Glencoe Woman Works to Compile Cuban Photography

A Glencoe woman is at the forefront of an effort to publish Cuban photographs.

According to a story in the Glencoe News, Madeleine Plonsker has worked to gather photographs from Cuban photographers who works are inspirations from some of the greats such as Constantino Arias, Raul Corrales and Joaquin Blez. The compilation of works Plonsker had worked at contributing toward is called “The Light in Cuban Eyes.”

“This book is a who’s who of Cuban photography,” said Plonsker.

On March 18, Cuban photographer Nelson Ramirez discussed the book during a presentation at Lake Forest College, where Plonsker plans to donate her collection.

“I hope that people see the value of the Cuban art,” Ramirez said.
