WINNETKA GREEN WAVE FOOTBALL PRESS RELEASE 9/22/2013 TEAM HIGHLIGHTS: Middleweights The Winnetka Green Wave program had 3 strong wins on Sunday, September 22nd including the Heaveyweight, Middleweight and Flyweight teams. The Lightweights and 4th grade team had close but disappointing losses. The win for the Middleweights was especially notable with a 34-0 shut out win against the Highland Park Giants. The Green Wave game highlight on offense was an outstanding running attack executed by strong offensive line play and a team of 4 different running backs driving the ball up and down the field. The Green Wave Middleweight defense has been solid all year and the pattern continued Sunday with several sacks and 3 turnovers. The Green Wave defense is strong in all areas of their play: d-line, linebackers and secondary with all roles contributing to a frustrating day for the Giants. Special teams also added valuable support in the win with two executed field goals and a recovery on one of the kick-offs after a Green Wave score. The Middleweight team has an extremely tough week coming up with a big game against Evanston, always a strong opponent. The key for the upcoming week and the balance of the season will be continued hard work at practice and more of the great total team efforts on Sundays! Each week the Green Wave program designates a Player of the Week from each team.
