Harriet Geller, Longtime Teacher in Winnetka, Dies

Harriet was also a longtime volunteer at Marillac House and Good News Partners in Chicago.

Harriet Gellar passed away, September 6, 2015, age 93, as gracefully as she lived. Beloved wife of the late Robert Gellar and Edward Holmgren. Loving mother of Elizabeth (Robert) Golden and James Gellar. Proud grandmother of Adam (Jamie) and Benjamin Golden, Molly, Amanda and Wiley Gellar. Dear great grandmother of Emilee and Madalin Golden, who brought a twinkle to her eye.

Harriet danced through life with a song in her heart. She had a love and joy of teaching that she shared with generations of students. She was a professional teacher for over 52 years in the Winnetka Public Schools and many years of volunteering at Marillac House and Good News Partners in Chicago. Her mastery of developing a student’s skills in reading was a gift she shared with many. She was a citizen of the world and relished creating a love of learning in others. Her selfless caring and compassion for left a lasting imprint on all who knew her. A life well lived!

A Life Celebration will be held for family and friends in the near future.
