How To Compost Your Jack-O'-Lantern In Winnetka
Don't let your pumpkins rot on your porch or in your dumpster; you can compost them in Winnetka.
WINNETKA, IL — Winnetka's upcoming pumpkin collection event will give residents a chance to give their lovingly crafted jack-o'-lanterns a second life.
The composting event will take place on Nov. 4 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 1390 Willow Rd. The event is free and open to all residents who may not have their own way to dispose of compostable waste.
Pumpkins are 90 percent water and produce a nutrient-rich organic product, which is useful in restoring eroded and nutrient-depleted soils.
