'Incoherent' Calls To School; Motorists Cited Over Fight: Blotter

NEW TRIER TOWNSHIP, IL — The following information comes from the Glencoe, Kenilworth, Northfield, Wilmette and Winnetka police departments as a record of police activity and incidents reported to the police. Criminal charges merely represent accusations by the state, and county prosecutors often choose to drop or reduce them. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Anyone arrested is innocent unless later proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
GLENCOE
INCIDENTS
IDENTITY THEFTS
- A Beach Road resident reported on Oct. 8 that someone had used their identity to open up an unauthorized utility account.
- A Drexel Avenue resident reported on Oct. 9 that someone had used their identity to fraudulently apply for unemployment insurance benefits.
- A Hogarth Lane resident reported on Oct. 11 that someone had used their identity to open a fraudulent checking account.
- A Sheridan Road resident reported on Oct. 14 that someone had tried to open a pair of bank accounts using their identity.
- A Jefferson Avenue resident reported on Oct. 19 that someone had used their identity to open a utility account.
- A Wentworth Avenue reported on Oct. 19 that someone had used their identity to take out an unauthorized loan.
- A Lincoln Avenue resident reported n Oct. 19 that someone had used their identity in an attempt to open a credit card account.
THEFTS

- Someone stole $280 worth of greens flags from the Glencoe Golf Course during the night of Oct. 8 or early morning hours of Oct. 9.
- A Scott Avenue resident reported on Oct. 19 that someone had managed to gain access of a frequent flyer account and steal more than $5,100 worth of miles.
ARRESTS/CITATIONS
Tyler Wilson, 27, of the 300 block of Dewey Avenue, Great Lakes, was arrested around 1:30 a.m. on Oct. 16 and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and driving under the influence of alcohol with a breath alcohol concentration of 0.08 or greater following a traffic stop around Dundee Road and Pebblewood Lane. Officers also issued him a citation for improper lane usage.
KENILWORTH
INCIDENTS/ARRESTS
No incidents or arrests have been reported by the Kenilworth Police Department during the month of October.

NORTHFIELD
INCIDENTS
Police issued a warning to a paving company working in 900 block of Happ Road prior to 7 a.m. on Oct. 4 after notifying the foreman of village regulations involving construction hours.
CRIMINAL DAMAGE
Someone defaced freshly poured concrete near Drury and Thackeray lanes between Oct. 1 and Oct. 4, causing about $350 in damage.
IDENTITY THEFT
An employee of an unspecified business in the 800 block of West Frontage Road reported no the evening of Oct. 6 that someone had sent them several harassing text messages earlier that day.
THEFT FROM VEHICLE
Someone stole the catalytic converter from a truck owned by the Northfield Park District from 401 Wagner Road at some point between Oct. 8 and Oct. 11.
DISORDERLY CONDUCT
Officers were called to Middlefork School, 405 Wagner Road, around 10:30 a.m. on Oct. 14 for a report that someone had placed a phone call and made various "incoherent" remarks about the school and local government. Police reported none of the statements were found to be threatening in nature.
SUSPICIOUS PERSON
Officers asked a person to leave from the rear employee parking lot at the Northfield Fire Department and Public Works facility at 1800 Winnetka Road shortly after 5 p.m. Oct. 17.

INCIDENTS
SHOPLIFTING
- Two unidentified women described as between the ages of 25 and 35 stole unspecified items from the Walgreens, 811 Green Bay Road, shortly after 10:30 a.m. on Sept. 30. One of the women wore a black jacket with white stripes on its sleeps, a white t-shirt, jeans, white shoes and a brown purse, while the other worse a gray t-shit with "Chicago" written on the top, along with black pants, a black baseball cap and red hair. The pair fled in a gray, four-door sedan, possiblly a Nissan, police were told.
- An unidentified 30- to 35-year-old man with a red, long-sleeved Puma shirt, black jeans and red sneakers stole various unspecified items from the Walgreens at 811 Green Bay Road shortly before 4 p.m. on Sept. 30.
- An unidentified man in his 30s or 40s with long dark hair and wearing a Superman t-shirt, baseball cap and jeans stole unspecified items from the Walgreens, 811 Green Bay Road, around 11:30 a.m. on Oct. 6.
- On Oct. 8, someone deposited a fraudulent $1,200 check into an account at the Chase Bank branch at 50 Skokie Road and then immediately withdrew $550 from the account.
THEFTS
- Someone stole all four tires from a Honda Civic parked in the 700 block of 20th Street during the night of Sept. 29 or morning of Sept. 30.
- A resident reported they suspect someone stole their iPhone while they were at the farmer's market around 10 a.m. on Oct. 2.
- Someone stole a black and gray, 29-inch bicycle from near the beach house in the 700 block of Michigan Avenue on or before Oct. 2.
- Someone stole a rear license plate from a car parked near the intersection of Frontage and Old Glenview roads or or before Oct. 5.
- Someone stole a blue Trek 3700 bike from a bike rack at Wilmette Junior High School, 620 Locust Road, on or before Oct. 7.
CAR BURGLARIES
- Someone burglarized an unlocked car in the 1300 block of Maple Avenue on or before Oct. 4, although nothing was reported stolen.
- Police contacted the owner of a wallet was found near the intersection of 15th Street and Forest Avenue on Oct. 4 and learned that it had been stolen from an unlocked car, and a credit card that had been inside was used at multiple places in Chicago.
HARASSMENT
A Ridge Road resident reported on Oct. 2 that a former acquaintance had sent them emails despite having been told to cut off all contact.
TRESPASSING
Staff at Loyola Academy, 1100 Laramie Ave., called police around 9 a.m. Oct. 4, during a Homecoming event, after encountering a child who was not authorized to be there.
VIOLATION OF ORDER OF PROTECTION
A Ridge Road resident reported on Oct. 9 that a former romantic partner had violated an emergency order of protection via a phone call, video call request and text messages.
HOME BURGLARY
Someone broke into and ransacked a home in the 400 block of Ridge Road on or before Oct. 10, stealing person items of unspecified value from inside.
STOLEN CAR
Someone stole a black Mercedes Benz from the Shawnee Service Center, 332 Linden Ave., prior to noon on Oct. 11. The thief told people at the business that he was there for an interview before stealing the car, which was last seen speeding south along Sheridan Road into Evanston.
THEFT FROM VEHICLE
Someone stole a catalytic converter from a Honda parked overnight in the 1500 block of Forest Avenue, police were told on Oct. 14.
ARRESTS/CITATIONS
Joshua Davis, 36, no fixed address, was arrested on the afternoon of Oct. 4 and charged with possession of a lost or mislaid credit card after officers determined he had fraudulently used a card that he found in a purse at two businesses. The combined charges were less than $15.
Nyeli Barreiro Lorenzo, 34, of the 200 block of Emerson Avenue, Itasca, was arrested around 11:30 p.m. on Oct. 12 and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol following a traffic stop on Skokie Boulevard at the Edens Expressway. Police reported he showed signs of impairment and refused to provide a breath sample. He was also issued citations for uninsured motor vehicle and improper lane usage.
WINNETKA
INCIDENTS
CAR BURGLARY
A resident reported that someone had gotten into a car parked in the 100 block of Birch Street between about 11 p.m. Oct. 5 and 7 a.m. Oct. 6 and left various pieces of trash inside.
HOME BURGLARY
Someone broke into a locked home in the 1100 block of Sheridan Road between 5:30 and 8:30 p.m. on Oct. 16 and stole jewelry from inside. The reported loss was more than $5,000.
THEFTS AT HIGH SCHOOL
- A pair of wireless headphones valued at $280 were reported to have been stolen from a bathroom at New Trier High School, 385 Winnetka Ave., between 10 and 11 a.m. on Sept. 21.
- Between 9 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. on Oct. 13, someone stole a bicycle worth $430 that had been locked to a rack at New Trier High School, 385 Winnetka Ave.
IDENTITY THEFTS
- Someone used the identity of a Dinsmore Road resident to apply for loans, police were told on Oct. 4.
- A Taylorsport Lane resident reported on Oct. 13 that, at some point after Sept. 20, someone had used their identity to apply for multiple unauthorized credit cards.
ARRESTS/CITATIONS
Omar E. Santoyo, 27, of the 500 block of South Elmwood Avenue, Waukegan, was arrested around 5 a.m. on Oct. 10 in and charged with aggravated driving under the influence of alcohol with a revoked license following a traffic top in the 1300 block of South Elmwood Avenue. He was also charged with DUI–alcohol, driving with a revoked license and issued citations for improper lane usage, speeding and illegal transportation of an open container of alcohol by a driver.
John R. Bresland, 51, of the 1700 block of Lake Street, Evanston, and Steven J. Weissman, 62, of the 1000 block of Merrill Street, Winnetka, were issued citations for engaging in a fight, quarrel or disturbance after officers investigated a report of a dispute between motorists.
Blake K. Lewis, 27, of the 10900 block of Kilpatrick Avenue, Oak Lawn, was arrested on the morning of Oct. 13 and transferred to the custody of the Illinois Department of Corrections after officers called to a well-being check learned he had an active arrest warrant.
Osvaldo Figueroa, 22, of the 5300 block of South Artesian Avenue, Chicago, was arrested around 3:30 p.m. on Oct. 13 and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol following a traffic stop in the 400 block of Sheridan Road. Officers also issued him citations for improper lane usage and disobeying a stop sign.
