Kenilworth Obituary: Joan Aishton, 89

November 28, 1925 - December 27, 2014

Joan D. 89, formerly of Kenilworth, passed away peacefully in her sleep at the Westminster Presbyterian Home of Evanston on Saturday, December 27. Joan was the beloved wife of the late Richard H. Aishton, and the loving mother of the late Nancy Aishton. She is survived by her son Peter (Mary Ellen), and grandchildren David Braverman, Amanda Schneider and Samantha Ledbetter, and her brother, Alan Dunwiddie, Jr. (Betty) of Janesville, Wisconsin. Joan was born Nov. 28, 1925 in Janesville, daughter of Alan W. and Margaret Jeffris Dunwiddie. A graduate of Janesville High School in 1943, she then attended Rockford College, Rockford, IL and the American Academy of Art in Chicago. Joan was an accomplished pianist and artist. She married Richard in 1948 after meeting him while both participated in plays with the Janesville Little Theater company. They were happily married for 56 years. Joan was an active gardener and traveler, and volunteered at Evanston Hospital and at the Kenilworth Union Church. Memorial service and internment will be private.
