Labor Day 2017: What's Open, What's Closed In Winnetka & Glencoe
Plus, some fun things to do in Chicagoland during the long weekend.

WINNETKA, IL — The dog days of summer are winding down, and we get one last weekend before the school year and fall activities get into full swing. Labor Day 2017 is Monday, Sept. 4. And while it's a day of rest and relaxation for many, it's also a federal holiday, meaning many local services and offices will be closed.
Here's a roundup of what's closed and what'll be open in Winnetka and Glencoe, plus a look at some fun events happening in Chicagoland.

Open
Most big-box retailers will be open — and many are offering Labor Day deals — but smaller businesses and mom and pop stores might be closed, so it's a good idea to call ahead. Glencoe Beach will be open Sept. 2-4 between 10 a.m. and 7 p.m.

Parking
Holiday parking restrictions will be in effect.
Trash pickup
There will be no refuse or recycling collection in Winnetka or Glencoe on Monday. Garbage and recycling collection will be delayed by one day for Monday and Tuesday collection zones, such that Monday collection will be Tuesday and Tuesday collection will be Wednesday, with regular service resuming on Thursday.
Also good to know:
- Kids Ride Free on Metra All Summer Long: Up to three children age 11 and under will be able to ride free with each adult through Labor Day.
