Mary Burke and Clyde Butcher to Exhibit - Sophisticated Abstract Painting and Stunning Black and White Photography at ZIA

Exciting Art! Abstract Painting by Mary Burke | B&W Photography - tradition of Ansel Adams. Clyde Butcher's National Parks at ZIAgallery.net

Exhibitions of abstract paintings by Mary Burke and black and white photography by Clyde Butcher open Saturday, September 9, 2017, 5 – 7 pm at ZIA Gallery, 548 Chestnut St., Winnetka, Illinois 60093.

Mary Burke says of her work, “Formally, my work manifests the play of design elements which are created through a combination of accidental and intentional marks. I love the paint to entertain me, and then I respond. I work expressively with line, intermingling non-figurative, gestural marks with those that reference plants and flowers.” Mary Burke continues to extend her range of painterly explorations with this new body of work.

50 years in the making, Clyde Butcher depicts a remarkable survey of varied topographical beauty to be found throughout the National Parks of the United States. Clyde Butcher's exhibition shows his passion for nature and the richness of the land. Clyde has captured the very essence of rewards offered by our unique park system. His images serve as ambassadors making the case on behalf of these landscapes themselves. Released to coincide with the observance of the National Park Service’s Centennial, this collection of Clyde’s compellingly sensitive photographs helps to celebrate our national heritage and the places that tell the story of who we are and who we hope to be in perpetuity.
