Masked Home Invaders Hold Resident At Gunpoint In Suburbs: Cops

Police are searching for a group of masked men who they say stormed into a Winnetka resident's home and held them at gunpoint.

WINNETKA, IL —Winnetka police are searching for a group of five masked home invaders they say held a resident at gunpoint Sunday afternoon.

A resident contacted police at about 5:27 p.m. Sunday, reporting they had escaped from a group of men who had broken into their home in the 700 block of Rosewood Avenue. Before police officers arrived, the group had already left the home.

The resident told police that the men had arrived in a black Acura RDX SUV, with one posing as a delivery driver to gain access to the home. Once inside, the group of men held the resident at gunpoint and demanded specific items from the home, according to police.

Ultimately, the resident was able to escape their home and call the police. They were not injured in the incident, police said.

The Winnetka Police Department believes that there are five male suspects, who were described as:

  • A Black man wearing a Nike face gaiter, dark clothing, purple surgical gloves and gray flip-flops with white socks who also carried a brown takeout bag from Outback Steakhouse.
  • A Black man wearing a black sweatshirt and gray sweatpants and light-colored gym shoes.
  • A Black man with dreadlocks who was wearing a red zip-up hoodie, ripped jeans and black and white gym shoes.
  • A man wearing a mask who wore a black sweatshirt with the hood up, jeans and white shoes.
  • A man wearing a light-colored jacket, dark pants, dark shoes and purple surgical gloves.

All the suspects were wearing masks, police said.
