Motorcyclist Eludes Police, Accused DUI Driver Does Not: Winnetka Crimes

WINNETKA, IL — The following information comes from the Winnetka Police Department as a record of police activity. Readers are reminded that an arrest is not an indication of guilt and criminal charges can be dropped or reduced. Everyone is presumed innocent unless they are proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
CRIMINAL DEFACEMENT
A park district employee discovered between June 23 and July 7th, someone defaced a banner in the 800 block of Oak Street with red and black markers. The banner will cost $100 to replace.

IDENTITY THEFT
A resident in the 600 block of Willow Road discovered between June 29 and July 5, someone had used their personal identifiers to open up six different credit card accounts, but there was no immediate reported loss.

IDENTITY THEFT
A resident in the 700 block of Sheridan Road discovered that someone used the victim’s personal identifiers to attempt to open a credit account with WebBank on July 3. There was no immediate reported loss.
FLEEING OR ELUDING POLICE
A motorcyclist fled from police in the 800 block of Sheridan Road after committing several traffic violations shortly after 9 p.m. on July 4. The investigation continues, police said.
CRIMINAL DAMAGE
Police noticed around 12:30 a.m. on July 4 that someone had used gray spray paint to deface a sewer outlet and damage a retention fence in the 1000 block of Sheridan Road sometime after 9 p.m. that night. Police said repair costs were unknown.
MOTOR VEHICLE THEFT
A resident in the 1300 block of Westmoor Trail reported that between 11:30 p.m. on July 3 and 10:45 a.m. on July 4 someone had driven away an unlocked car with the keys inside that had been left in the driveway. The vehicle also contained a laptop. Police said the vehicle was recovered on July 9.
CRIMINAL DAMAGE
A resident in the 500 block of Green Bay Road discovered that between 6 p.m. on June 30 and 7 a.m. on July 1, someone had damaged a side glass panel on a door, causing $200 in damage.
ARRESTS/CITATIONS
DUI
Rebecca J. Kruse, 37, of the first block of W. 65th Street in Westmont, was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol at 3:37 a.m. on July 8 in the 1300 block of Willow Road. Kruse was also cited for improper turning and disobeying the stop sign. Her court date has been set for Aug. 11.
REVOKED LICENSE
A 28-year-old Beach Park man was arrested at 11:29 p.m. on July 7 in the 200 block of Sheridan Road and charged with driving on a revoked license and cited for speeding. His court date has been set for Aug. 18.
