New Trier Board Votes to Add Classes on Certain Holidays

Classes scheduled for next three years on Rosh Hashana, Good Friday and Martin Luther King Jr. Day

The New Trier High School District 203 Board of Education voted 5-1 on Monday to approve a calendar for the next three school years that includes holding classes on holidays that are usually set aside as off days.

The Chicago Tribune reports that in order to ensure the $100 million renovation project at the school’s Winnetka campus is on time and on budget, school will be in session on Rosh Hashana, Good Friday and Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

The new calendar will begin at the start of the 2015-16 school year and continue through 2017-18, when the project is expected to be completed.
