New Trier Democrats Issue Endorsements For March Primaries
The local grassroots group chose Daniel Biss and Jennifer Gong-Gershowitz, but no candidate for attorney general received enough votes.

WINNETKA, IL — The New Trier Democrats group held its endorsement meeting Sunday at the Winnetka Community House, and attendees voted to endorse Evanston state Sen. Daniel Biss for governor, human rights attorney Jennifer Gong-Gershowitz to replace outgoing 17th District Rep. Laura Fine and challenger Fritz Kaegi against Cook County Assessor Joe Berrios.
The group did not endorse a candidate to succeed Attorney General Lisa Madigan. Eight candidates are competing in the Democratic party primary for the office.
Endorsements required support from 60 percent of the group's membership, according to an announcement of the results of the meeting.

Biss has the endorsements of members of Congress, Robin Kelly and Brad Schneider, and more than a dozen members of the Illinois General Assembly. He has also been endorsed by Champaign County Young Democrats, the Indo-American Democratic Organization and Northside Democracy for America.
Biss, a former University of Chicago math professor, released his first television ads last week. But in the most recent public polls available, he trails both billionaire J.B. Pritzker and millionaire Chris Kennedy.
Pritzker has also assembled an impressive list of endorsements, including the Cook County Democratic Party, the Illinois Federation of Teachers and the AFL-CIO.
