New Trier Grad Leads Barack Obama’s Transition Team

Anita Decker Breckenridge will also be Obama's chief of staff after he leaves office.

KENILWORTH, IL - Anita Decker Breckenridge, a Kenilworth native and New Trier High School alum, is leading President Barack Obama’s transition team and will be his chief of staff once the president becomes a private citizen of Washington, D.C. after Donald Trump takes over the presidency on Jan. 20.

The Chicago Sun-Times reported Monday that Breckenridge - a current White House deputy chief of staff who has worked with Obama since he was a state senator in Illinois in 2004 - will be the final staffer out of the White House when the transition is made on Inauguration Day.

Breckenridge, a 38-year-old who graduated from New Trier in 1996, is in charge of archiving the Obama White House and working with Trump’s team.
