New Trier Township Announces Support Grant Applications for Disabled Individuals

New Trier Township is providing grants to individuals with disabilities through their Community Support Grants program.

Many individuals with disabilities are cared for in their homes by family members. For several years New Trier Township has provided Community Support Grants designed to help defray the extreme cost and many unusual expenses associated with in-home care.

Applicants with disabilities that match the following categories are eligible for the Township Community Support Grant program:

· Multiple Impairments

The application period for Township residents to apply for fiscal year 2016-17 Community Support Grants begins in early October and ends on Friday, January 11, 2017. A new, streamlined application process now requires all applicants to submit a Medical Certification of Eligibility, signed by the applicant’s medical provider. The Medical Certification is the only form of documentation that will be accepted.

Residents or their caregivers seeking to begin the grant process, must download the application from the New Trier Township website www.newtriertownship.com found within the Services/Financial Assistance pages. The Township website also contains program guidelines and frequently asked questions designed to help applicants navigate the process. If you have specific questions regarding approved impairments or conditions covered by the grant program, please contact Jeanne Winsted Rosser at (847) 446-8201.
