New Trier Turf Work Comes in Under Budget

New Trier Township High School District 203’s school board received bids for the sub-surface work necessary to install synthetic turf at the stadium on the Northfield Campus and nearby lighted playing field.

The low bidder, Nicholas and Associates, agreed to do the project for $1,991,000, approximately $138,000 less than the district had anticipated for the project, according to a memo from John Neiweem, District 203’s director of Physical Plant Services.

The overall budget for the project is about $3.3 million; most of the remaining money will pay for the installation of the turf product itself. FieldTurf Revolution was the product district officials believed would best meet the school’s needs.

While Nicholas and Associates has not done any previous work for New Trier, the company received excellent references from several Chicago-area school districts that have used its services, Neiweem said.
