Northfield To Create New Comprehensive Plan

From The Village of Northfield: The Village of Northfield is excited to announce the kick-off of the planning process to create a new Comprehensive Plan for the Village. The Northfield Comprehensive Plan, Vision Plan 2040, will serve as the Village’s official guide for land use and development for the next 10-20 years. Through community consensus, community vision, existing conditions, and future potentials, Vision Plan 2040 will guide Village leaders to make substantive decisions for the community. It will serve as a road map into the future by guiding policy decisions and helping the community achieve its long-term objectives. Village President Joan Frazier noted , "Northfield has seen so many positive developments over the last years. I hope every Northfielder will help continue this trend by joining the dialogue concerning the path ahead for our community." President Frazier Chairs the Vision Plan 2040 Steering Committee.

Vision Plan 2040 will address a variety of topics, including community-wide plans for land use and development, transportation, parks and open space, community facilities, infrastructure, and resiliency. In addition, the plan will include detailed subarea plans for key areas of the community.

Residents are encouraged to participate, both in-person and online. The first community workshop is scheduled
for July 26th from 7-8:30pm at the North Shore Senior Center located at 161 Northfield Road.

Members of the public can stay active and aware of the project as it progresses over the next year by tracking it through the project website. The public can visit the Village’s homepage at www.northfieldil.org and click on the “Vision Plan 2040” link to access the project website for more information.
