Northfield Obituary: William O'Loane Feeley, 89

William O’Loane Feeley (“Bill”), age 89, died peacefully on September 22, 2015 at his home in Northfield, IL. He is survived by his beloved wife of nearly 61 years, Helen Feeley nee Colnon; loving father of Elizabeth (Christopher) Baine, Marion (Mark) Hinken, William (Susan Malone) Feeley, Stuart (Tana Taitague) Feeley and Christopher Feeley; proud grandfather of Julia Baine (Theodore) Stem, Kevin (Sharon Ball) Baine, Michael and Emily Baine; Mark (Catherine Harnach)Hinken, Elizabeth, Catherine and Mary Grace Hinken; William (Rebecca Kriskey) Feeley, John, Sarah, Meghan, Grace, Stuart and Michael Feeley; Matthew and Claire Feeley; dear great grandfather of Theodore Baine Stem.
Bill was born in Buffalo, NY and moved to Kenilworth, IL, attending Joseph Sears followed by Loyola Academy. He served as a Quartermaster in the US Navy aboard the troop carrier, USS Dade in the South Pacific during WWII. He then graduated from Harvard University.
Bill was a successful stockbroker in Chicago for many years. He started his career at Harris Hall and became a leader at Dean Witter Reynolds & Co. until his retirement. He served for many years as a Board Director of Great Lakes Dredge & Dock. He was an avid golfer and long-time member of Bob-O-Link and Exmoor Country Clubs, each in Highland Park. He was also a member of Ocean Forest and Sea Island Golf Clubs in Sea Island, GA, where he had a second home. Bill was adventuresome. He flew his own aircraft and following his retirement, he and Helen toured Europe on his motorcycle after riding it to Canada to fly it across the pond.
Bill was a parishioner at Saints, Faith Hope & Charity Parish in Winnetka and was active with a number of charitable organizations including Catholic Charities.
Funeral Mass 10:00 a.m., Saturday, September 26, 2015, at SS. Faith, Hope & Charity Church, 191 Linden Avenue, Winnetka, IL 60093.
Interment Calvary Cemetery, Evanston, IL.
The Feeley Family welcome their guests to join them for a reception immediately following the interment at North Shore Country Club, 1340 Glenview Road, Glenview, IL 60025.
