North Shore believes that education should be personal—where teachers know each student, challenge each at a high level, and where students connect intellectually and individually with teachers, advisors, college counselors, coaches and peers, both in and outside the classroom. The school opened this year with just over 540 students: 230 in Upper School; 125 in Middle School; 185 in Lower School. Of those, 27% are students of color. Students come from more than 37 ZIP codes in 20 suburban communities, plus Chicago. Most live in Winnetka or nearby suburbs, such as Wilmette, Evanston and Glencoe, but students travel from as far north as North Chicago and as far south as Beverly.

Diversity and inclusion is a hallmark of a North Shore education. To ensure access and opportunity to families from a range of socio-economic backgrounds, North Shore has a need-based financial aid program. Approximately 19 percent of the student body receives $2 million in financial aid each year.
