Patch Honors New Trier Area Graduating Seniors In Class Of 2020

This is the second installment of our salute to New Trier Township area graduating seniors from the historic class of 2020.

NEW TRIER TOWNSHIP, IL — Patch is sharing the achievements of local high school graduates by putting them in the spotlight this month. Due to the coronavirus, in-person classroom teaching and extracurricular gatherings have been canceled for the rest of the 2019-2020 school year in Illinois.

We know these wonderful seniors are missing out on some of the last moments of the school year and we hope to give the community a way to share their pride in our class of 2020 high school graduates.

Max Kocour, New Trier High School

Kocour, who plans to study business at Indiana University, played volleyball at New Trier, according to his family.

Lauren Osburn, New Trier High School

Osburn plans to study spaceflight and aeronautics at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, according to her family.

Sean Ryan, Loyola Academy

Ryan, who plans to attend Penn State in the fall, played golf, sang acapella and took part in theater productions during high school, according to his family.

Taylor Jones, New Trier High School

Jones, who has been awarded the presidential scholarship to study bioengineering at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, a National Merit scholarship finalist, a Presidential Scholar nominee and a two-time Academic All-American on the New Trier girls water polo team, which she captained to fourth place in the state last year, according to her family.

Kailyn Alani, New Trier High School

Alani, who intends to major in environmental science at Kansas University, was active in Food Taxi and Environmental Club at New Trier. During high school, she played piano, created glass art and competed on the cross country team for three years, according to her family.
