Police Investigate Crash That Killed Northbrook Woman

NORTHFIELD, IL — Police are investigating a fatal crash that took place Sunday afternoon in Northfield. Shortly after 11:30 a.m., emergency personnel were called to the intersection of Waukegan Road and Three Lakes Drive for a two-car crash, police said. A passenger in one of the vehicles involved was taken to Glenbrook Hospital with critical injuries.

Carla Noumberg, 85, of the 1000 block of Angle Avenue in Northbrook, was pronounced dead around 12:45 p.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office. The incident is under investigation by the Major Crash Assistance Team of the North Regional Major Crimes Task Force, according to Northfield police.

Northfield police Sgt. Michael Hutensky declined to say whether anyone else was transported to the hospital following the crash or whether anyone was taken into custody or issued citations, citing the task force investigation.
