EVANSTON -- Random Acts of Flowers Chicago names Sharon Hayes (Winnetka) to its Board of Directors, it was announced today by Joanie Bayhack, Executive Director of RAF Chicago. RAF Chicago recycles and repurposes flowers by engaging dedicated volunteers to deliver beautiful bouquets and moments of kindness to individuals in healthcare facilities across Chicago and beyond.
“Sharon is beloved in Winnetka and wherever she goes, said Bayhack. “She was one of our first volunteers so, similar to several of our current Board Members, she has an in depth understanding of our operation, mission and the impact we have on thousands of lives. We are thrilled to welcome her talent, ideas and ability to get things done efficiently,” said Bayhack.

“In such a short time, I have seen RAF Chicago grow in such a positive and powerful direction,” said Hayes. It has a unique – it combines both the recycling of something beautiful and brings joy to others. The appreciation and healing power of flowers is universal and it is truly amazing how a bouquet of flowers can do so much," she added.
Sharon graduated from DePauw University with a B.A. in Psychology. She has lived in Winnetka for 20 years and is the mother of three children. She worked for University of Chicago Graduate School of Business as well as Northwestern University Law School as Director of Admissions prior to having children. Sharon is actively involved with the Rush Medical Center Woman’s Board and the Rush Neurobehavioral Center Board, as well as a Parent Association at New Trier High School.
Sharon is passionate about flowers and helping others. Her interest in flowers began at an early age as both of her grandfather’s grew roses and were national rose judges. She is a member of Kenilworth Union Church and the Kenilworth Garden Club. While researching the idea of re-purposing flowers she found Random Acts of Flowers and was one of the first volunteers in Chicago. She enjoys her rose garden, boating and spending time with her children and husband.
