Saints Faith Hope and Charity students win awards at the 3D LEAP Design and Engineering Competition

The School of Saints Faith, Hope and Charity would like to congratulate the following 12 students for competing at the third annual 3D Design and Engineering Competition at LEAP Innovations within 1871 at the Merchandise Mart. Students include Ally Crawshaw, Lauren Smyth, Jane Murphy, Danny Birmingham, Jack Schuppan, Charlie Merrill, Elizabeth Duda, Lauren Clark, Grace Golden, J.P. Hasley, Ryan King and Stephen Samartzis.

Special congratulations to 6th grade FHC students Ally Crawshaw and Lauren Smyth who received the "Social Impact Award" which is the best design that has potential to solve a social issue. Their design was a solar powered walking stick/flashlight designed for locations in third world countries with no electricity to be used at night for safety. Their inspiration came from a young 8-year-old refugee from Sudan whose brother was bit by a poisonous snake at night as he walked without a source of electricity.

Additionally, special congratulations to 5th grade FHC students Danny Birmingham, Jack Schuppan and Charlie Merrill who received the "Collaboration Award" for the team who worked well together as a group. Their design was a heated or frozen muscle roller depending on the medical issue.
