Scammer Steals Thousands In Fake Tollway Dues: Winnetka, Glencoe Crime Blotters

WINNETKA, IL — The following is the most recent crime blotter from the Winnetka Police Department and the Glencoe Public Safety Department.
Winnetka
THEFT
- Vehicle - April 2 at 7:55 a.m.
- A resident discovered that an unknown person had stolen their unlocked 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee sometime overnight between April 1 and 2.
- Scam - April 2 at 6:44 a.m.
- A resident reported that an individual claiming to be an employee of the Illinois Tollway instructed them to withdraw money from their bank account and transfer it to them. The amount exceeded $5,000, police said.
- Vehicle - April 4 at 11:31 a.m.
- A resident discovered that an unknown person had stolen their unlocked 2021 Audi A6. The vehicle was later recovered in a different jurisdiction.
BURGLARY

- Vehicle - April 2 at 4:45 p.m.
- A resident discovered that an unknown person had gotten into their unlocked 2019 Chevrolet Silverado and stolen their wallet.
- Vehicle - March 22 at 12:22 p.m.
- A resident discovered that an unknown person had gotten into their unlocked 2022 Audi Q3 and stolen their wallet.
CRIMINAL TRESPASS
- Vehicle - April 4 at 3:57 p.m.
- A victim noticed that someone had gotten into their unlocked 2014 Hyundai Tucson, but nothing was stolen. However, the victim's vehicle had sustained damage from the suspect crashing into it with their car.

- Traffic - March 30 at 7:34 p.m.
- A 27-year-old Chicago man was arrested for speeding 26-34 mph over the posted speed limit. He was also cited for operating a vehicle with expired registration.
- Violation of Order of Protection - April 2 at 12:18 p.m.
- An 18-year-old Michigan man was arrested for violating an order of protection.
- Traffic - April 5 at 10:13 p.m.
- Winnetka police assisted the Northbrook Police Department in arresting a 70-year-old man who had an in-state warrant.
