The Skokie School Assistant Principal Named Interim Head Of Greeley

WINNETKA, IL — There will be a new principal at Greeley Elementary School in Winnetka, according to a statement from District 36. On July 27, the district's board accepted Susan Hugebeck’s resignation to pursue other personal and professional endeavors. Joshua Swanner was named as interim principal.

“On behalf of the School Board and administrative team, I want to recognize Susan’s contributions to the Greeley School community over the past 12 years,” said Superintendent Trisha Kocanda.

Once the district became aware of Hugebeck’s possible resignation, transition planning began immediately. After considering many options, the district said it became clear that Swanner would be the best candidate to step into this role on an interim basis. Swanner is assuming all administrative responsibilities at Greeley, including hiring and evaluating staff, reviewing student class placements, and moving school and District goals forward, according to the statement.

Before becoming assistant principal at The Skokie School, Swanner taught in District 36 schools for five years.

“Mr. Swanner has proven himself to be a highly-effective administrator in District 36. He understands the Winnetka student experience from Kindergarten through eighth grade and is deeply committed to progressive values.” Kocanda said.

As the search begins for a new assistant principal to take over at The Skokie School starting in 2017-2018 and to identify a permanent principal for Greeley School, the District promised to keep the Winnetka community apprised.
