Stolen Car Flees Police: Glencoe Crime Reports

GLENCOE, IL — The following information comes from the Glencoe Department of Public Safety as a record of incidents reported to police. Readers are reminded that an arrest is not an indication of guilt and criminal charges are often dropped or reduced. Everyone is presumed innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
INCIDENTS
AGGRAVATED FLEEING & ELUDING / POSSESSION OF A STOLEN MOTOR VEHICLE / SPEEDING 35 + ABOVE LIMIT

Shortly before 2 a.m. on Aug. 2, police tried to pull over a Dodge Caravan for failing to signal on I-94 at Tower Road. The Dodge refused to stop and sped away. The driver was described as a black male teenager with an unknown number of passengers in the car.
Glencoe police contacted police in Chicago to check with the registered owner of the van. Later that morning, the Dodge was entered as stolen in the Chicago Police Department database, according to Glencoe Deputy Chief Richard Weiner.

It is unknown whether the vehicle has yet been recovered, Weiner said.
CRIMINAL DAMAGE
Police were told on July 27 at 7:56 a.m. that someone broke the window of a house in the 200 block of Mortimer Road with an unknown object. The reported damage was less than $500.
THEFT
It was reported shortly after 2 p.m. on July 27 that someone stole a package that had been delivered to the first block of Estate Drive. After opening the box, the thief tossed it into nearby bushes.
IDENTITY THEFT
Someone used the identity of a resident in the 100 block of Green Bay Road to open a bank account, police were told on July 29 at 11:47 a.m. The person made several unauthorized purchases. Police did not disclose the reported loss.
THEFT
Someone stole a bicycle from the 300 block of Hazel Avenue on July 31 at 11:51 a.m.
There were no reported arrests in Glencoe during the past week.
