The Village recently received notice from the Illinois Historic Preservation Agency (IHPA) that the Jesse L. Strauss Estate, located at 110 Maple Hill Road, was entered in the National Register of Historic Places on December 22, 2014, as nominated by the current owners.

The property was previously designated a Glencoe Honorary Landmark by the Village Board in 2006. It includes the only David Adler-designed country house in Glencoe. Members of the Historic Preservation Commission reviewed the National Register nomination in October and forwarded a letter of support to IHPA commending the owners’ for their preservation efforts. With the addition of 110 Maple Hill Road, the Village now has four National Register properties including 740 Greenwood Avenue, 15 Old Green Bay Road, and 850 Sheridan Road.
