Temple Jeremiah's 2016 Golder Initiative features Eboo Patel
Eboo Patel will present "Interfaith Leadership: A 21st-Century Necessity" at Temple Jeremiah.

Eboo Patel will present “Interfaith Leadership: A 21st-Century Necessity” at the Stanley Golder Interfaith Initiative at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 30, 2016, at Temple Jeremiah, 937 Happ Road, Northfield.
Patel will discuss religious diversity, highlighting the necessity of interfaith bridge building and outlining the knowledge-base and skill-set required for interfaith leadership.
“In this time of divisive rhetoric and partisan rancor we need leadership that will build bridges of understanding and peace,” said Rabbi Paul F. Cohen, senior rabbi at Temple Jeremiah. “We look forward to learning from Eboo Patel how people of all faiths can work together and lead us to create a better world.”

Patel is a leading voice in the movement for interfaith cooperation and the founder and president of Interfaith Youth Core, a national nonprofit working to make interfaith cooperation a social norm. He is the author of the books Acts of Faith and Sacred Ground. Patel holds a doctorate in the sociology of religion from Oxford University, where he studied on a Rhodes scholarship.
Patel will also lead a program for high school students beginning at 5:30 p.m. that evening, where he will provide the teenagers with inspiration, frameworks and knowledge on their journey to become leaders in the interfaith community.

The mission of the Golder Interfaith Initiative is to promote understanding among every faith and embrace the unifying spirituality of all religions. The lecture, which is free and open to the public, is sponsored by Temple Jeremiah.
The event is a partnership between Temple Jeremiah and the Church of the Holy Comforter, the Islamic Cultural Center of Greater Chicago, the Muslim Community Center, St. Peter Community Church, St. Philip the Apostle Church, the U.S. Bahá’í National Center, Winnetka Congregational Church, Winnetka Covenant Church, Winnetka Presbyterian Church, and the Winnetka Interfaith Council.
Temple Jeremiah is a Reform Jewish congregation affiliated with the Union for Reform Judaism and holds weekly worship services and study programs. The Center for Learning offers educational opportunities for all ages, from preschoolers to senior adults.
