The One Percent? Winnetka and Northfield Rank No. 14 Richest Zip Code in America

With an average household income of about $280,000 and net worth of about $1.4 million, Winnetka and Northfield hold the No. 14 spot in an article on the richest American zip codes, according to Businessweek.com.

The business website employed the data company, Gadberry Group, to compare average income, net worth and population changes since 2000. The result is  "America's Richest Zip Codes 2011: Where the 1 Percent Lives."

Of the 50 top zip codes, other Illinois zip codes include 60045, or Lake Forest, at No. 13, and 60043, or Kenilworth, at No. 3.

The No. 1 richest zip code is 33480 in Palm Beach, Fla. with average household income at about $370,000 and net worth at about $1.5 million.

In August, Winnetka-Glencoe Patch reported that according to CNNMoney, Glencoe is No. 6 and Winnetka is No. 7 for "top-earning towns" in the U.S. The CNNMoney ranking system orders towns numerically by median family income, with a total of 25 towns.
