Thief Spends Thousands On Gift Cards Using Victim's Account: Winnetka, Glencoe Crime Blotters

WINNETKA, IL — The following is the most recent crime blotter from the Winnetka Police Department and the Glencoe Public Safety Department.
Winnetka
THEFT
- Identity - April 21 at 7:41 p.m.
- A resident discovered that someone had hacked into their American Airlines AAdvantage account to purchase gift cards without authorization. The estimated amount of loss is $2,100.
- Identity - April 23 at 1:38 p.m.
- A victim told police that somebody had altered and cashed a check that was previously mailed. The estimated amount of loss is $4,801.
CRIMINAL DAMAGE

- Residence - April 22 at 11:09 a.m.
- A resident reported that someone damaged the door frame around their basement door sometime between April 21 and 22.
ARRESTS
- Assist - April 21 at 9:12 p.m.
- Winnetka police arrested a 26-year-old Westmont resident for an in-state warrant.
- Traffic - April 24 at 8:42 a.m.
- A 41-year-old Waukegan man was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol and having a blood alcohol level of 0.08 or more. He was also cited for following too closely and failure to slow down to avoid an accident.
- Traffic - April 26 at 9:48 p.m.
- A 29-year-old Evanston man was arrested for driving with a suspended license.

- A 35-year-old Chicago man was arrested and cited with driving with a fraudulent license, obstructing identification, and resisting a police officer.
