Thieves Enter Dozens Of Cars, Several Stolen: Glencoe Crime Reports

GLENCOE, IL — The following information comes from the Glencoe Department of Public Safety as a record of incidents reported to police and those arrested by police in recent weeks. Readers are reminded that an arrest is not an indication of guilt and criminal charges are often dropped or reduced. Everyone is presumed innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.

BURGLARIES/TRESPASS TO VEHICLES

- On July 14 at 4:39 a.m. a resident in the 300 block of Washington Avenue reported someone entered an unlocked vehicle without taking anything.
- On July 14 at 5:01 a.m., a resident in the 500 block of South Avenue reported that someone entered an unlocked vehicle but did not take anything
- On July 14 at 5:01 a.m., a resident in the 300 block of Jackson Avenue said someone entered two unlocked vehicles but nothing was taken.
- On July 14 at 5:01 a.m., a resident in the 300 block of Jackson Avenue told police someone entered an unlocked vehicle and stole documents and an iPhone.
- On July 14 at 5:27 a.m. a resident in the 500 block of Grove Street reported miscellaneous items were taken from inside an unlocked vehicle.
- On July 14 at 5:36 a.m., a resident of the 400 block of Jackson Avenue told police someone entered an unlocked vehicle but nothing was taken.
- On July 14 at 5:36 a.m., a resident of the 400 block of Lincoln Avenue reported that someone entered an unlocked vehicle and stole an iPad and miscellaneous items.
- On July 14 at 5:52 a.m., a resident in the 500 block of Grove Street said someone entered an unlocked vehicle but did not take anything.
- On July 14 at 5:59 a.m., a resident in the 500 block of Grove Street reported that someone entered an unlocked vehicle and removed several documents, which were later recovered in the 500 block of South Avenue.
- On July 14 at 6:31 a.m., a resident in the 400 block of Jackson Avenue reported that someone entered an unlocked vehicle but did not take anything.
- On July 14 at 6:31 a.m., a resident in the 400 block of Jackson Avenue told police someone entered an unlocked vehicle but did not take anything.
- On July 14 at 6:51 a.m. a resident of the 400 block of Lincoln Avenue reported that someone entered an unlocked vehicle and took undetermined property from it.
- On July 14 at 6:57 a.m., a resident of the 300 block of Vernon Avenue reported that someone entered an unlocked vehicle but nothing was taken.
- On July 14 at 5:06 a.m., a resident of th e300 block of Washington Avenue reported that someone entered an unlocked vehicle and stole an undetermined amount of change.
- On July 14 at 7:09 a.m., a resident of the 400 block of Adams Avenue reported that someone entered an unlocked vehicle and searched through the glove box and center console but nothing was taken.
- On July 14 at 7:09 a.m., a resident of the 500 block of Jackson Avenue reported someone entered an unlocked vehicle and rummaged through it but did not take anything.
- On July 14 at 7:28 a.m., a resident of the 500 block of Old Green Bay Road reported that someone entered two unlocked vehicle and stole gift cards and sunglasses.
- On July 14 at 7:30 a.m., a resident of the 700 block of Bluff Street reported that someone entered a vehicle and stole a handful of change.
- On July 14 at 7:45 a.m., a resident of the 200 block of Hawthorn Avenue reported that someone entered an unlocked vehicle and took various items, which were later found on a neighbor's front lawn.
- On July 14 at 9:08 a.m. a resident of the 500 block of Drexel Avenue reported that someone entered two unlocked vehicle, stealing cash from one of them and nothing from the other.
- On July 14 at 9:16 a.m., a resident of the 800 block of Bluff Street reported that someone entered two unlocked vehicles but nothing was taken.
- On July 14 at 9:46 a.m., a resident of the 500 block of Drexel Avenue reported that someone entered an unlocked vehicle and took cash and some documents.
- On July 15 at 2:15 p.m., a resident of the 800 block of Bluff Street reported that someone entered an unlocked vehicle but nothing was taken.
- On July 17 at 10:20 a.m., a resident of the 200 block of Hawthorn Avenue reported that someone entered two unlocked vehicles and stole a set of tools from one of them but nothing from the other.
- On July 17 at 7:2 p.m., a resident of the 100 block of Harbor reported someone entered an unlocked vehicle and stole an insurance card.
STOLEN VEHICLES
On July 14 at 4:46 a.m., police were told someone stole a vehicle that had been unlocked with the keys left inside from the 500 block of Drexel Avenue. It was recovered a short time later.

On July 14 at 7:40 a.m., a resident of the 300 block of Adams Avenue reported that someone entered two unlocked vehicles. Nothing was taken from one of them, but the keys had been left inside a Toyota Highlander. That vehicle was stolen and later recovered elsewhere.
IDENTITY THEFT
Over the past several months, someone has made several charges in several states with several merchants and attempted to obtain several new credit cards in the name of a victim on Mayfair Lane, police were told July 14.
THEFT
On July 14 at 1 p.m., a resident of the 200 block of Drexel Lane reported trying unsuccessfully to make an online purchase with a gift card. The resident tried to call the store to make the purchase, but after providing the info needed, the call was disconnected. When the resident called back, it was learned that the gift card's balance was empty and a purchase had been made using it along with an unidentified credit card registered to a Massachusetts address.
CRIMINAL TRESPASS/DAMAGE
On July 15 at 2:15 p.m., police were told someone had entered a home being prepared for demolition in the 800 block of Grove Street and damaged several items inside for a reported loss of more than $500.
THEFT BY DECEPTION
On July 18 at 8:13 p.m., a resident in the 400 block of Randolph Street reported being defrauded by someone who had sent the resident fraudulent checks for deposit.
CRIMINAL DAMAGE
Someone cut a hole through a fence on the first block of Park Avenue around 4 a.m. on July 19, police learned.
THEFT
Police were told someone stole a license plate off of a vehicle in the 2100 block of Frontage Road on July 20 at 3:09 p.m.
IDENTITY THEFT
Someone made several credit card purchases using the card of a resident in the 400 block of Park Avenue, even though the resident maintained possession of the cards, police were told on July 20 at 7:36 p.m.
AGGRAVATED FLEEING AND ELUDING
On July 24 at 1:52 a.m., police attempted to pull over two vehicles for failing to stop and then crashing into each other. Both motorists fled the scene and one of the vehicles was determined to have been stolen.
IDENTITY THEFT
On July 24 at 11:53 a.m., a resident in the 1000 block of Skokie Ridge Drive reported that someone unsuccessfully attempted to open several applications for lines of credit.
