Thieves Steal Surveillance Camera; Phone Snatched In New Trier Bathroom: Winnetka Crimes

WINNETKA, IL — The following information is a record of incidents reported to the Winnetka Police Department. Readers are reminded that an arrest is not an indicator of guilt and criminal charges represent merely accusations. All defendants are presumed innocent unless their guilt is established beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.

SUSPENDED LICENSE

A 28-year-old man, of the 38000 block of Sheridan Road in Beach park, was arrested June 5 at 3:50 p.m. and charged with driving a vehicle with a suspended license. He was also cited for expired registration and given a July 18 court date.

THEFT

A resident of the 900 block of Sunset Road reported that someone removed the video surveillance camera and spotlight that had been placed outside the home for a reported loss of $690. The incident, which allegedly occurred at 11:36 pm. on May 17, was reported to police June 5.

IDENTITY THEFT

A resident of the 900 block of Ash Street discovered last December that someone had used their personal information to open up a checking account and used the account to make $625.08 in unauthorized purchases. It was reported to police on June 7.

IDENTITY THEFT

A resident of the 500 block of Orchard Lane discovered that someone used their personal information to open up multiple store credit cards. between May 5 and June 1. The resident also discovered an unauthorized purchase on an existing MasterCard account. The total loss reported on June 7 was $1486.77.

THEFT

Someone stole an unattended $800 black iPhone from a bathroom at New Trier High School sometime between 11:45 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. on June 9, it was reported to police that afternoon.
