Tour of Crow Island School is September 24

Architectural significance of building on Willow Road will be discussed.

WINNETKA, IL - A tour of Crow Island School, a national historic landmark, is planned for Saturday, Sept. 24.

Chicago Bauhaus and Beyond, the Winnetka Historical Society and the Crow Island Stewardship Group will lead the tour of the school at 1112 Willow Road at 1 p.m. that day.

Laurie Petersen (co-editor of the revised AIA Guide to Chicago) will highlight the architectural significance of Crow Island School during a symposium that will feature other speakers as well.

Those interested in attending should check in at 1 p.m., according to a news release from Winnetka Schools. The program begins at 1:30 p.m., with docent-led and self-guided tours to begin at 2:45 p.m. A self-guided tour is available via smartphone or iPad. Tickets are $25-35.
