Two Ways to Help People in Need this Thanksgiving

Feeling thankful but recognize not everyone is as comfortable and is struggling? Share Your Bounty via The Volunteer Center.

Looking for ways to help others in honor of Thanksgiving this year? The Volunteer Center (VC) invites residents on the North Shore to Share Your Bounty with low income and homeless families struggling to put food on the table in the very week we're all gearing up for our annual feasts Thanksgiving. There are two organized projects sponsored by The VC that help families feed their own. Volunteers may select the project (or participate in both) that works best with their schedules. Both these programs let people in need know the larger community cares.

1. This week through Monday, November 21, drop off fresh produce and special treats in a basket to New Trier Township, 739 Elm Street in Winnetka between 9am and 4pm weekdays for local struggling families. Fresh produce is a welcome alternative to the canned foods that have a longer shelf life. Details here http://www.volunteercenterhelps.org

2. In addition, for those who would like to do something to help on Thanksgiving morning between 10am and noon, the Volunteer Center is encouraging people to gather a recommended list of grocery items and place them in a canvas bag and bring them to the Good News Partners low income and homeless families at 1600 W. Jonquil Terrace in Chicago (Rogers Park near Evanston). If people would like to collect multiple bags as a group effort, the Volunteer Center can provide special red bags upon request. Help us meet our goal of filling 150 bags. For details about the specific contents of the bags http://www.volunteercenterhelp... Additional information, email info@volunteercenterhelps.org
