Village Postpones Meeting Because Chicago Cubs Might Be in the World Series

With the Cubs 3 wins away from the Fall Classic, the village of Glencoe has decided to push back a meeting on the future of its downtown.

GLENCOE, IL - Residents of Glencoe were encouraged to spend the night on Tuesday, Oct. 26 at a plan commission meeting in which the future of the village’s downtown area would be discussed.

But that’s the night of Game 2 of the World Series, and the Chicago Cubs might just be participating.
That was enough reason for the village to postpone the meeting to Nov. 9, according to a Glencoe News report.

"We are hoping to have people to take part in the presentation and have the opportunity to comment,” said Nathan Parch, the village’s planning and development administrator. “We realize the conflict of a World Series game that night would hinder attendance, so we just decided to be proactive and reschedule the date after the World Series.”

And maybe because some of the commissioners would want to watch the game themselves.

The Cubs are currently tied with the Los Angeles Dodgers at one game apiece in the National League Championship Series. If the team does advance to the World Series, Game 2 would be held in either Cleveland or Toronto.

A public hearing during the meeting - which will now be on Nov. 9 - is being called a “downtown tune-up” and is necessary to be held in order for the village to take any action.
