Washburne Students Raise $5K for Northwestern Settlement House
Seventh and eighth graders raised money and wrapped gifts for children in need over the holiday season.
WINNETKA, IL - A team of seventh and eighth grade students at Carleton Washburne School in Winnetka raised more than $5,000 at their annual Walkathon to support three families through their partnership with Northwestern Settlement House.
According to a District 36 news release, students referenced each family’s wish lists to shop for gifts at Target and returned to school to wrap the presents. The students also purchased Jewel and Target gift cards for each family.
According to its website, Northwestern Settlement has "nurtured, educated, and inspired children and families in need in Chicagon focusing on changing lives through education, social services, and the arts."
