Winnetka Attorney Suspended By Bar Association

David Schrauth is accused of misleading a client for five yeats into believing a case that had been dismissed was still pending.

Winnetka-based attorney David M. Schrauth will be suspended for 30 days beginning October 13, according to information from the Illinois State Bar Association.

The Supreme Court of Illinois issued the disciplinary order on September 21 during its September Term of Court. Schrauth was one of several statewide to be sanctioned due to professional misconduct by violating state ethics law.

According to the Bar Association, Schrauth, who was licensed in 1991, had allowed a client’s personal injury matter to be dismissed because he failed to appear at a status hearing in 2008. But over the course of the following five years, Schrauth is alleged to have misled the client into believing the case was still pending.
