Winnetka to Get More Security Cameras
Hubbard Woods and Indian Hills Metra stations among sites for new cameras.

Security cameras will soon be installed at two Metra stations and three pedestrian underpasses in Winnetka.
“The train stations and underpasses are frequent targets of vandals, for the most part, defacing property, which is a frequent occurrence,” Winnetka Police Chief Patrick Kreiswas quoted as saying in a Chicago Tribune article.
The new cameras will be installed at the Hubbard Woods and Indian Hills Metra stations and nearby underpasses.

Security cameras have already been in place at the Elm Street Metra station, the village’s Public Safety Building and Village Hall. But a recent approval of $143,000 to expand the system was made by the village council.
The system, the Tribune reports, “allows video images to be transmitted via the village’s fiber optic network to the police communication center, where they are recorded on a central server.”
