Winnetka Library Studio Celebrates Fifth Anniversary

Winnetka Library: More than 100 patrons attended an afternoon celebration for the fifth anniversary of the Winnetka Library Studio recently.

The Studio festivities held October 13 showcased the cutting-edge technology and equipment available to Library patrons, such as 3D printers, Adobe Creative Cloud software and a laser engraver. The center also utilizes classic art mediums like paint and canvas to inspire as well as educate a community of artistic makers and creators. “We developed The Studio to meet the evolving needs of the community and to better achieve our mission of a provider of innovative and enriching services,” said Rebecca Wolf, Library Director. “The library is a gathering place for us as a creative and innovative society and The Studio’s success shows that we are hearing and anticipating the needs of our community.”

Guests saw demonstrations of the 3D printer and computer-controlled embroidery machine. They also had an opportunity to metal stamp a pendant, make a magic wand and crochet a cookie, all to take home as souvenirs. “The Studio is perfect for the community and is also environmentally sound. We can’t all have machines like these at home,” said Simone Brown, a library patron. “The best part, though, is the staff, who are always so friendly and helpful.” Located in the lower level of the Winnetka Library, The Studio is made possible by a generous gift from the Staffileno Family, in order that the library create a space to honor the memory of Constance E. Staffileno. The Studio was developed to embody Mrs. Staffileno’s love for art and art education as well as to inspire generations of innovators and art enthusiasts.

The Winnetka-Northfield Public Library District is a community resource for the advancement of knowledge, and a provider of innovative and informative cultural enrichment for all ages.
