Winnetka Man Who Attended College in Vermont Dies Suddenly

William Wright Parkinson was a community entrepreneurship major at the University of Vermont.

A Winnetka man who was studying in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences at the University of Vermont died unexpectedly on May 17.

According to The Vermont Cynic, the university’s newspaper, William Wright Parkinson was a sophomore community entrepreneurship major from Winnetka.

“We extend our deepest condolences to William’s family,” Vice Provost Annie Stevens stated in an email to the newspaper. “Our sincere thoughts of care and sympathy are also extended to William’s friends and to faculty and staff who were close to him.”

Parkinson was the son of Elizabeth and Andrew Parkinson, brother of Alexander and Mac Parkinson, grandson of Ann and the late Samuel Parkinson and Roy and the late Mary Craig - according to his obituary.

His family held a memorial service May 21 at Christ Church in Winnetka.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to Erika’s Lighthouse, 897 Green Bay Road, Winnetka, Illinois 60093 or Sterling College, P.O. Box 72, Craftsbury, Vermont, 05827.
