PEER Services is a 501(c) (3) non-profit organization. PEER Services provides community-based substance use prevention and treatment services to teens, adults and families in Northern Cook County, including Evanston, Maine, New Trier, Niles and Northfield Townships, and the north side of Chicago. PEER Services reduces the harms of substance use, addiction and stigma by engaging youth and adults with innovative prevention programming and by supporting people on their path to recovery through holistic, evidence-based treatment. We provide affirming services to all in need, regardless of their ability to pay. The following obituary is courtesy of Donnellan Family Funeral Services. John E. "Jack" Townsend, age 87, of Winnetka, Illinois, peacefully passed away May 11, 2015. Jack was born on February 6, 1928 in Rochester, New York to Noel and Donald Townsend. Beloved husband of Eva Townsend for sixty-four years; loving father of Kenneth and Kathryn (Louis Komjathy), and the late John Jr. (Kathleen); devoted grandfather of Niles (Shannon Callahan), Kenneth Jr. and Emanuel Townsend; adored great grandfather of Nathanial, Lilah and Mikayla Townsend. Jack attended New Trier, Cornell University and graduated from the University of Illinois. He was a real estate broker on the north shore for sixty years. He was a member of the North Shore Board of Realtors serving several years as president. Jack was also an active lifelong member of Christ Church. A memorial service will be held Friday, May 22, 2015, 1:00pm at Christ Church of Winnetka, 784 Sheridan Road, Winnetka, IL. 60093.
