Winnetka Park District Director Retiring
Executive director Robert Smith has been with the district since 2003, his last day is expected at the end of April.

WINNETKA, IL — The Winnetka Park District Executive Director Robert Smith announced his retirement at the Feb. 23 board meeting.
Smith started with the district in 2003 as superintendent of parks and was promoted to become executive director in 2014.
Although the exact date has yet to be determined, the district said it anticipates his final day will be at the end of April.

During his time with the district, Smith oversaw a multitude of park projects, including the Crow Island Woods renovation, new Parks Service Center construction, Skokie Playfield Master Plan and Phase I & II projects, Village Green playground renovations, Northfield Park redevelopment, and Hubbard Woods Master Plan and execution, according to the district.
Under his leadership as Executive Director the District completed the Winnetka Waterfront 2030 Plan, updated the District’s policy manual, 2016 Community Needs Assessment survey and is currently closing in on finalizing the 2017-22 Strategic Plan, the district said.
