Winnetka Teen Marches in Presidential Inauguration Parade

WINNETKA, IL - A Winnetka teenager was part of the parade for the presidential inauguration in Washington, D.C. last week.

Lucy Welch rode her horse, Benneton, as part of the Black Horse Troop at the Culver Academy, a military school in Indiana which has sent its horse group to the inauguration for more than a century.

The Winnetka Talk interviewed Welch and her father on the family’s experience in Washington, D.C. and a look at the preparation that went into pulling it off.

The group that included Lucy had 56 boys and 24 girls.

Lucy’s father, Greg, noted her longtime love of horses.

"I don't ever remember her not riding," he said.
