Winnetka Trustee Kristin Ziv Not Seeking Re-Election

"It's important to have an independent, non-Caucus voice on the Council," Ziv said, endorsing Anne Wedner as her successor.

WINNETKA, IL — Trustee Kristin Ziv announced Tuesday she is not running for reelection to the Winnetka Village Council, citing the chance of moving. In a statement announcing her decision, she said she had been "privileged" to have had the "enormously satisfying job" and endorsed a successor.

"But my husband and I are considering relocating, and it wouldn’t be appropriate for me to run again if I may leave before completing a second term,” she said. Ziv, who was elected as an independent to a two-year term in 2016, says she will leave office in May 2018.

“With an election approaching in March, the Winnetka Caucus Council re-nominated two candidates for three positions. There is also an Independent candidate who filed nominating petitions Monday, and I’m happy to endorse her," Ziv said.

"Anne Wedner is a talented individual with pertinent experience, a record of work in our community, and an understanding of the major challenges this Village faces," she said. "It’s important to have an independent, non-Caucus voice on the Council.”
