Winnetka's Stormwater Project Receives Outstanding Achievement Award

The Village of Winnetka's Stormwater Improvements Project received an award for its innovative approach to flood prevention.

WINNETKA, IL — The Village of Winnetka received an Outstanding Achievement Award from the Illinois American Society of Civil Engineers for its Stormwater Improvements Project.

According to the Illinois American Society of Civil Engineers, Winnetka's project showcased an innovative collaborative approach to flood prevention. It created more than 150 acre-feet of stormwater storage to protect homes, public facilities and natural spaces.

"This achievement is a recognition of the Village's commitment to sustaining and improving its national environment within Cook County," the village said in a statement.

Award winners were recognized at a ceremony on Oct. 30.

"The evening stood as a profound testament to the outstanding achievements of the civil engineering community, shining a spotlight on innovative, groundbreaking projects and celebrating unwavering dedication, service, and leadership within the field," the Illinois American Society of Civil Engineers said.
