Woman Fatally Struck By Car In Northfield Identified
A 70-year-old woman died after she was hit by a car Saturday evening near a strip mall in Northfield.

NORTHFIELD, IL — A woman was fatally struck by a car Saturday in Northfield, according to police and the medical examiner. Police got a report at 6:20 p.m. that someone had just been hit by a car in the 1700 block of Orchard Lane.
Jacquelyn Wittleder, 70, of the 200 block of Latrobe Avenue, Northfield, was taken to Evanston hospital. She was pronounced dead at 9:55 p.m., according to Northfield police and the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.
The circumstances of the incident remain under investigation by Northfield police. The north suburban Major Crash Assistance Team was not called to the scene to investigate, and no citations have been issued in connection with the incident, according to Sgt. Michael Hutensky.

Wittleder's death was ruled an accident caused by blunt force injuries from being struck by the car, according to the medical examiner's office.
The portion of Orchard Lane where the crash occurred has a speed limit of 20 mph. Located just west of the Edens Expressway and south of Willow Road, it is also the site of multiple strip mall retail businesses and has parking on both sides of the road as well as parking lot entrances.
