• Nicor Gas rebuffs lawsuit, says they were not responsible for house explosion and fire that killed woman in Wonder Lake (lakemchenryscanner.com) — A Wonder Lake family is pursuing a lawsuit after a May 17 gas-fueled house explosion on Birch Drive killed 59-year-old resident Sandra Patnaude and seriously injured her husband and son, while Nicor Gas denies responsibility. The blast leveled their home, damaged two neighboring houses, and drew a massive emergency response from Wonder Lake Fire Protection District and regional agencies, with investigators still working to determine the exact cause.
