“Promoting children’s health and safety remains a top priority for me,” Radogno said in a statement. “This year’s Safety Expo offers children and parents a great opportunity to learn about issues such as cyber bullying, nutrition, bicycle safety, college saving programs, as well engage in fun interactive activities.”

Admission is free. There will also be free giveaways at the event, and the first 300 children will receive a free lunch bag.

Demonstrations at this year’s expo include: True Balance Karate class, the Traveling World of Reptiles Show and the Darien Police K-9 Unit. Also, the LIFESTAR Chicago medical helicopter will be there from 9:30 - 11:30 a.m.

More than 30 “Touch-a-Trucks” will be at the Safety Expo, and kids are invited to see, touch and get behind the wheel of their favorite vehicle. Local professionals will be available to answer questions about the equipment and the work they do.

“This is always a very well-attended event, and families come back every year not just for the information that is available for parents, but for the fun, hands-on activities for children,” Durkin said. “The Traveling World of Reptiles Show and the Touch-a-Truck exhibit are especially popular.”

“This safety expo promises to be a lot of fun for kids of all ages,” Sandack said. “It has become one of my favorite events of the year and I hope a lot of families come out and enjoy all of the free activities.”
