Newcomer Abbott Joins Pittinger and Banks as Trustees

Greg Abbot, David Pittinger and Anne Banks were elected (or re-elected) following Tuesday's consolidated election.

Newcomer Greg Abbott has been elected as a village trustee in his first election run.

Abbott joins incumbents Anne Banks and David Pittinger, who were re-elected as trustees for four-year terms.

Banks led in votes with 1,201. Pittinger came in second with 1,187 and Abbott held third with 1,114.

Banks ran with Mohan Airan, who finished last in the polls and was not elected to the board. Airan trailed the other three candidates in votes, receiving with 622.

Banks and Airan ran together in the election and were supported in the election by Citizens for Banks and Airan, a non-partisan committee made up of former and current Woodridge elected officials, including Mayor William Murphy.

Murphy had said that in the past, the candidates that committee supports tended to be the ones who are elected.

The committee offered to support David Pittinger in the election as well, but Pittinger declined. Abbott was not given an offer of support by the committee.

Abbott, Banks and Pittinger were elected amidst lower than average voter turnout in Woodridge. Election judges said at various locations around the village.
