Nurse Charged With Murder-For-Hire Plot Lied About Affair: Cops

Tina Jones allegedly tried to make it look like her intended murder victim was engaging in an affair.

WOODRIDGE, IL --- A 32-year-old woman who is charged with plotting to have her romantic rival killed may have lied about the circumstances surrounding the alleged affair, according to police. Woodridge Police detective Daniel Murray told a judge that Tina Jones, a former nurse from Des Plaines, told the murder-for-hire site she wanted it to appear as though the victim --who was married to Jones's former lover--- were having an affair, Chicago Tribune reports.

Jones turned herself in to police in mid-April after it was discovered that she allegedly paid more than $10,000 in Bitcoin to have her former lover's wife murdered. The website, which she accessed via the dark web, was later discovered to be fraudulent.

Jones, who is currently out on bond, faces felony charges of attempted murder and solicitation of murder for hire in connection with the incident.
