Parts Of South Frontage Road, 83rd Street Bridge To Close Through May
Both construction projects will take about two months, weather permitting.

South Frontage Road: The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) has awarded the resurfacing of the South Frontage Road of Interstate 55 between Lemont Road and Cass Avenue to P.T. Ferro Construction Co. IDOT has notified the Village that the contractor is planning to start work on the project Monday, April 6th with tree trimming and clearing vegetation along the shoulder of the roadway. The project is expected to take approximately two months to complete.

83rd Street Bridge: The 83rd Street Bridge over I-355 closure is planned to begin on Tuesday, April 14, 2020 which is expected to last approximately one and a half months, weather permitting. The signed detour route will in place prior to the closure beginning. A pedestrian route across the bridge will remain open during construction. The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) has stated that construction of infrastructure projects is considered essential work, therefore the construction of the project is proceeding per IDOT.
IDOT (who holds the contract for the resurfacing work on the 83rd Street bridge) and the Village of Woodridge (who owns the bridge deck) jointly determined that there were material quality issues with the deck work that was recently completed by D Construction.

While there are no structural concerns, there are cracks in the new surface overlay which will ultimately shorten the lifespan of the work that was just completed, so the concrete will need to be removed and repoured.
